John Coburn, Chairman

John Coburn is a Managing Director of XPV Capital Corporation, specializing in emerging high growth environmental technology companies, focused on innovative water technologies. Previously, as President and Chief Operating Officer of ZENON Environmental, he helped grow the company from startup to a world leader in water treatment using membrane technology, with over $146M in revenue and market capitalization of $700M. Prior to joining XPV in January 2006, John was a private investor focused on the cleantech industry. John developed his cleantech expertise during the first 10 years of his career with Environment Canada, where he received the Government of Canada Merit Award for his work on over 20 scientific research papers and journal articles on water treatment and its impact on the environment.


Khalil Maalouf, Director

Khalil Maalouf is a Managing Director of XPV Capital. Khalil assists promising technology companies raise capital, secure first-class management talent, and navigate through their various growth cycles. Khalil brings considerable experience helping early stage companies achieve their growth objectives, having placed over $75 million in venture investments in small and medium sized high-growth companies. Khalil worked previously with Working Ventures Canadian Fund and VenGrowth Capital Partners, two of Canada's largest venture capital firms. He sat on the board of 11 portfolio companies. Many of Khalil's portfolio companies have been successfully exited through IPO or acquisition - for example Genesis Microchip Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSS), Cognicase Inc. (COG: TSX - subsequently acquired by CGI Inc. (CGI:TSX) and Simba Technologies, acquired by Pivotal Technologies Inc. (PVTL: NASDAQ).


Robert Metcalfe, Director

Robert J. Metcalfe, LL.B., is a senior executive and lawyer who has extensive experience in law, consulting and directorships. Robert was a senior partner for 20 years at the law firm of Lang Michener followed by being the President, CEO and General Counsel of Armadale Properties Limited and the Armadale Group, with significant holdings in newspaper publishing and real estate. He is presently Counsel at Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns LLP, a full service law firm representing major China, Hong Kong and Canadian clients. Robert has an excellent understanding of corporate governance having served as an independent director on numerous boards, including Hollinger Inc., CN Tower (Canada Lands) and Toronto Airways Limited.


Mr. Steve Parry, Director

Mr. Parry is a Managing Member in NGEN Partners, LLC. A longtime member of the Canadian mining fraternity, Mr. Parry is a geologist with more than 25 year of operational and senior management experience. Prior to joining NGEN, he was employed by BHP Billiton, the world's largest diversified resource company, as a member of the corporate venturing team and as General Manager, Innovation responsible for the company's global investment portfolio in junior resource startups. Originally from Chicago, Mr. Parry is a graduate of Queen's University and the University of Western Ontario, and was awarded the Canada 125 Medal for his activist role in support of sustainability in northern Canadian resource communities.


Dr. Rafael Simon, Director

Dr. Rafael Simon served as COO of ZENON Environmental, one of the world's leading suppliers of membrane-based water and wastewater filtration technology, since 2001. In 2006, Dr. Simon led the process to sell ZENON to GE for $760 million representing a 300 percent increase in share price in the five years since becoming COO. Prior to joining ZENON, Dr. Simon worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. where he specialized in developing corporate growth strategies. Dr. Simon received his Ph.D in Materials Science and Mineral Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2004, Dr. Simon was selected as Canada's top COO by Canadian Business Magazine.


Paul Wickberg, Director

With over 20 years of business leadership and senior management experience, former CEO of evandtec, Paul Wickberg has a proven track record of driving rapid growth and value creation for technology start-ups as well as Fortune 200 organizations. As President and COO of Verisae, Inc., a provider of energy and asset management software, Paul grew the company from startup to multi-national status in just 4 years. Prior to Verisae, Paul was President of Emerson Climate Technologies Solutions, where he oversaw multiple divisions. This was the position he assumed after Emerson's acquisition of Computer Process Controls where he was the President and one of the original founders. He is credited with creating and building Emerson Retail Services, now the leading provider of energy services to the supermarket industry, growing revenues from $19M to $80M over a 5-year period and is the recipient of Emerson's Technology Achievement award.
