For Immediate Release
TORONTO --- August 11, 2006 --- A leading Canadian water treatment company has added a top water industry expert to its executive team. Murray McCaig, CEO of EnviroTower, announced today that Dr. Rafael Simon, the former Chief Operating Officer of Zenon Environmental, will join EnviroTower’s Board of Directors.
“The addition of Dr. Simon to our company is further validation that EnviroTower’s patented technology is the future for cooling tower water treatment”, said McCaig. “We are confident that the appointment of Dr. Simon will further solidify EnviroTower’s position as the company to watch in the water sector.”
Dr. Simon is well known in the field of water treatment for his vision and leadership of Zenon Environmental, one of the world’s prominent suppliers of membrane-based water and wastewater filtration technology. At Zenon he served as COO from 2000, and led the sale of the company to General Electric earlier this year. In 2004, Dr. Simon was selected as Canada’s top COO by Canadian Business Magazine. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Mineral Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. “This technology is gaining incredible momentum, and I am very excited to be involved,” said Simon. “If every facility with a cooling tower implemented this system, the potential benefits to our environment would be huge.”
In the field of water treatment technology, EnviroTower continues to attract key industry players. The appointment of Dr. Simon adds to EnviroTower’s growing list of accomplished professionals including board member John Coburn, who was instrumental in developing Zenon into a world leader, advisory board member James Dart, who was with the Ontario Ministry of Environment as a water specialist for over 30 years, and Aaron Nelson, VP Operations, who spent his entire career in industrial water treatment, much of it with GE Water.
EnviroTower is the most technically advanced system for cooling tower water treatment. The patented system completely replaces traditional chemical treatment; providing total control of scale, fouling and corrosion to create an exceptionally clean system that dramatically reduces energy and water consumption, while eliminating toxic water discharge to improve our environment.
