TORONTO --- October 17, 2005 --- Murray McCaig, CEO of EnviroTower™ today announced that John Coburn, former President and COO of ZENON Environmental Inc., has joined EnviroTower’s Board of Directors. Coburn is recognized for his pioneering work with ZENON Environmental Inc. where he was instrumental in developing ZENON into a world leader in the design and supply of water and wastewater treatment systems, using membrane technology. “We’re extremely pleased to be able to utilize John Coburn’s considerable water treatment expertise and experience. He will play an active role in EnviroTower’s development and growth as we develop new technology and new markets,” McCaig said. Coburn will work closely with EnviroTower co-founders President John Richmond and Chief Scientist Jim Dart.
Coburn is involved in private sector (angel) investing in North America, focusing primarily on providing strategic, financial and operational expertise to the management of companies developing clean environment technologies. He is a Founding 100 Member of the National Angel Organization and a member of the Toronto Angel Group. He is also a director of Biorem Technologies Inc., International Club Network and Water Capital Inc, a Capital pool Corporation. In addition, he is on the Sustainable Development Technology Canada Investment Committee and the Scientific Advisory Group for Acuity Financial. Coburn has successfully completed Directors College at the DeGroote Business School and is a “Chartered Director”. He received a Government of Canada Merit Award in 1982 for dedication, devotion and excellence of work with respect to the analysis of toxic substances in the Great Lakes; and in 2002, was recognized with the “Architect of ZENON” award for helping build the company from start-up to a global water treatment leader.
