This year, Canada Water Week will focus its efforts on the theme “Our Water Footprint.”  Did you know that Canadians consume twice as much water per day than Europeans? Or that next to the United States, we are the second highest water consuming country in the world? Yet over and over again, Canadians state how important water is to them and that they are concerned about its safety and protection. Most recently an RBC-Unilever poll showed that 80% of Canadians said they were concerned about the long-term supply and quality of water.

In March 2012, Canada Water Week will aim to draw attention to this disconnect between concern for water and misuse of water. By becoming more water aware, we can all be conscious of what we use and in the process promote the protection of freshwater in Canada from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
